| - Not happy.
I'm a platinum member with SPG. I'm also the current duke of check ins here. I've stayed here quite a few times over the last couple of years. Each time, there always seem to be an issue AFTER I leave with improper billing. So, this time, I wanted to catch any issues before they get out of reach like they usually do. If I get the surprise that the bill I was expecting to get finaly posts to my account and it was not what I was expecting, I really don't want to deal with billing issues, especially when it's the establishments fault. So, usually I take it as a loss and left with a bad taste. In order to deal with the bad taste, I tell myself that the kids here are working for less being off of the strip. It is a pretty property but the service usually ruins that so I become conflicted. I figure if I pretend like the last stay wasn't that bad, maybe it won't be. Apparently, that doesn't matter. If you want to get treated nicely, you have to demand it, which makes it not such a nice resort feel.
Being platinum, I'm supposed to get any available suite, automatically. At the front desk upon checking in, I was even told I was getting the "platinum suite upgrade." It wasn't. It was a lakeview room. Even as gold, I've gotten better rooms. This is hardly an upgrade and with the rate as low as it was, I'm quite sure the occupancy was low meaning a suite was most likely available. I wasn't really concerned because it is a perk so if it doesn't happen, no big deal. Problem is, it NEVER seems to happen. It seems to be a false promise with ALL SPG hotels. Being platinum, I figured, it was a sure thing. Apparently not. Being loyal to SPG has not really been very rewarding.
Then, I'm told that my resort fees would be taken care of for the inconvenience. They fadangled it so my stay was spilt into two separate stays even though it was all one. Then they only took the resort fee off of one half but not the other. Essentially, not doing anything but lie to my face about apologizing.
I chose the points that SPG members are given upon check-in instead of the breakfast. I went to breakfast anyways to try it and it was extremely late. The server tried to explain that the eggs broke. They were poached eggs so I'm not sure how someone breaks those. Once you drop in the water, they set almost immediately. I'm guessing he meant the hollandaise sauce broke? Strange because most hotels have hollandaise set up for easy production. If he had to make from scratch and broke it, that's not a very good cook so you would think that my meal would be compensated somehow. It wasn't. It was cold and I was already annoyed that it was late that I didn't even bother saying anything. Garbage, for the price. I just know not to go back to eat there again. My last stay, I took a friend to a seafood dinner and as I'm writing this, I do recall they screwed that up to and that definitely wasn't cheap.
What set me off today was that I asked for a late check out for my departure. I figured it would be the least they could do (even though it's already supposed to be included with platinum status) but, the girl lazily tells me I would have to pay for a half day rate. I have never heard of a half day rate. I've heard of saying no we can't give late check out or sure we can give late check out but I've NEVER heard of charging a half day for late check out at a resort. Except in maybe one of those dirty roach motels that charge by the hour.
Another thing. I wasn't even told about the internet...at all. I was only JUST TOLD that platinum are given upgrade internet, on my last day there. My phone service is blocked and so you are forced to use their internet and its really not good. In fact, I recently found someone trying to hack my Facebook and now I'm starting to think it is coming from the shared internet here.
It's just that they really don't compensate for mistakes and when they do, it's usually only half true or sometimes not at all.
