| - This review is solely on the pick-up service only, my stuff has not been delivered yet so I will update once the delivery service is done. The 1 star rating is for the team leader, Jake. The rest of the crew: Robert, Baro, and Ramiro were awesome and I'd give them 4 stars.
The relocation specialist, Heidi Webster was very nice and cordial so I'd give her 3 stars. There were a few things that made me a little upset about her:
1. Throughout the moving quote estimate (I changed my inventory quite a few times), she quoted me $3.95 per cf but on the day of the move when I finalized my inventory, she bumped up the price to $4.55 per cf without informing me. I found out when Jake was doing the calculations out loud and when I told him that it's supposed to be to be $3.95, he said no, your quote says $4.55. I then told him that Heidi never informed me of the change and he said well when it is under 400 cf, the price is $4.55 (for some reason my gut is telling me that this is full of b.s. since that was never brought to my attention ever).
2. She initially charged me an elevator fee of $150.00 but then changed it to $100.00 because her boss said that it was okay to do so. I really appreciated her help in trying to get the fees reduced because every little bit does help. All fine and dandy until Jake showed up with the contract and it shows that the elevator fee is $100.00 anyways so I felt that I was misled to think that I was given a deal.
From the get-go, Jake rubbed me the wrong way. My quote was for 339 cf and he was like well since there is an extra blue tupperware and a few small boxes, it's going to be at least 400 cf. So I told him that it doesn't add up and he then said that he was estimating for a worst case scenario and that he doesn't think that it will be 400 cf.
So on to the supplies, a friend of mine worked for a moving company told me that movers are trained to use as much supplies as they can since that is where it is most profitable for them. So I bought a few rolls of tape and shrink wrap for them to use so I won't have to pay for their supplies. So during the paperwork, Jake said that he would be using at least 14 rolls of tape at a price of $4.00 per roll. I told him why so much tape since I have tapped everything up myself already? He simply said you will see. So my roommate was irked about this and said what if we went to get 14 rolls of tape ourselves and he said, "you can but I will charge you for waiting for you to come back with tape."
Now with the packing, they wrap your belongings in their blanket and tape the blanket shut. All gravy until I saw that they used an entire roll of tape just on my dresser (a small 4 drawer dresser that has already been tapped shut by me). So that irritated me because with what my friend had advised in mind, I witnessed it for myself. So I told Jake that I did not want my belongings wrapped in the blankets just to see what he would say. He just simply said, "no I have to" and continued along. He stepped outside and came back and said that he just spoke to his boss and his boss said that it is company policy to have the items wrapped in blankets. So I said okay since it is company policy can you show me that provision in your contract? And all he could say was no, I have to use blankets. So I was just like whatever. Then on to the day bed, it is a white day bed and I bought shrink wrap to wrap it so it does not get dirty and I asked Jake to have it shrink wrapped first and he said no, we do this everyday, we know what to do. He said that they use blankets first then they shrink wrap it. I'm just like what the hell is the point of that? Their blankets doesn't even look clean! We had a bit of an issue and my roommate finally said, it is our stuff and we are asking for it to be shrinked wrapped first and we don't see what the big deal is? He then said fine we will do it and I won't even charge you for the tape since money is the issue here. So not only is he not accommodating and rude, he is also insulting.
It was pretty much smooth sailing until we finalized the paperwork. It ended up costing his "worst case scenario quote" and on top of the rolls of tape charge, he added shrink wrap charge of $50.00. So I asked him why when I supplied my own, and he said it is for the labor of wrapping my belongings in the shrink wrap. Before the movers' arrival, I called Heidi to specifically ask if there would be an extra charge for them to wrap my furniture in shrink wrap and she said no, it is included. By then I did not want to argue with Jake anymore and I was beyond annoyed with him and I just wanted him out of my townhouse. So the final price actually exceeded the quote by more than $600.00 and it hasn't even been delivered yet so I can't wait until my inventory is delivered since most of the reviews on here have issues with delivery!
