  • 3.5, rounded down because the pool blows. I used to prefer Planet Hollywood Westgate to the regular Planet Hollywood Hotel because the rooms were newer, nicer, and cleaner. Also, the Westgate pool is a lot nicer than the regular PH pool. However, Westgate is now owned by Hilton, meaning you [technically] aren't allowed in the old Westgate pool if you are just staying at PH (unless you have Hilton Player's Club Card). And the Planet Hollywood regular pool is pretty awful. The pool is on a different level than the majority of the lawn chairs. When you first step out onto the pool deck, you are basically standing on a cement roof with lawn chairs. Laying out on this floor is unbearably hot and uncomfortable in the summertime. If you go upstairs to the pool level, there is a dinky pool with a very limited number of lawn chairs (which were all taken up by the time we got there, just around 11, noon). Any other seating on the pool level requires you to pay for a cabana... um, heck no. Not paying to lay out by the pool in my own hotel! It's definitely not a pool party, fun atmosphere, so why would I pay for a cabana as if I'm at a legit Vegas pool party... Dumb. Anyway, the pool issues aside, the rest of the hotel is pretty convenient and fun. Tons of casual food options (not so much fine dining), shopping on Miracle Mile, ABC Store for picking up toiletries & alcohol, Fat Tuesdayyyyy (!!), and of course, 24-hour Earl's Sandwiches - aka the perfect drunchies. The location of the hotel is pretty central on the Strip and especially convenient if you are planning on going to Marquee at the Cosmopolitan. The convenience of the surrounding Miracle Mile shops are probably what I like most about Planet Hollywood. Also, the free self-parking. Accommodations are not particularly new or updated, but they are at least clean and the beds are comfortable enough. My group of friends occupied pretty much an entire hallway. We got a few regular double rooms and a two-bedroom suite. The double rooms were pretty standard for this price point. The suite was nice and spacious, although the second bathroom was a bit small. The couches and furniture also feel & look a bit...used up, so I suggest not lifting the couch cushions... Service is OK - no major problems or complaints. Overall, I think PH is a great option if you are cheap, in your 20s, and visiting Vegas to party with friends. It's less appropriate for families and couples looking for a romantic getaway.
