  • Bottom-line: This is the only hotel next to the strip that has low prices all the time. Plus, there are no resort charges (a decent basic pool is the only outside amenity, really). Better hotels try to lure with deals that are only for specific days, like tomorrow! Other days are more near regular prices at such places, including at Super 8. Access: I was visiting UNLV for a campus visit during the week of St. Paddy's Day, 2017. I am starting a PhD there in fall. I wanted a place within walking distance from the university and the hottest spots on the strip. This location cuts it both ways. Plus, it is the closest lot from the airport, and thus the first stop on the WAX city bus line; also the cheapest cab fare, if that's what you are taking. UNLV is 2 miles, MGM side entrance is 400 m, NY NY is under a mile. I booked this through Google Maps! Can you believe it? Just look for the deals slider on the left side, and Google Maps will hook you up. My deal was made through bedfinder, at $39 per night (including taxes etc.) for four weeknights. Typically, weekend availability and rates are different in Vegas, so bear that in mind. The room: Juan at the desk was very nice, albeit stern faced. There was some loud sewage line work going on near the front, so he offered me a room in the back in a quiet area. The room was basic, but offered no major reason for complaint. I did see a small cockroach; hey but they've been on this planet longer--so, show some respect. Basic shampoo and soap dispensers are attached to the walls. Appliances: I am a longer-haired dude, so I need a hair dryer. I asked at the desk, and it was free. As the website mentions, mini-fridge is $5 a day, and I added it. It does not have a freezer, but two ice-makers are available on the premises. A/C: Mine was loud but effective. I could have moved to a different room, but the A/C noise helped cancel airplane and other outside sounds. TV: Old-fashioned and basic. Worked for me. There's always Vegas outside the door for visual spectacle! Premises: Quite quiet! Can see MGM to the Luxor beam against a jet black desert night sky, while peacefully sipping cappuccino outside (I lay down on a parked trailer, stargazing). Help: Bronson, the electrical guy, was also very nice! He came to check my A/C's noise level immediately, and diagnosed it as "old." I understood, as one of my knees is beginning to squeak too. Overall: If this is your price range, and you are not in Vegas to spend 24 hours in your own hotel, this will work!
