Uptown Toronto's casual seafood goldmine! Went to Fish Street Market & Open Kitchen this week-end for the 1st time and it didn't disappoint. I had the Shrimp Po' Boy & it was amazing (& massive!). I can't say enough about the shrimp itself-at least a dozen perfectly seasoned shrimps overflowing in a toasted bun with julienned, dressed veggies. Extra napkins needed-don't wear your best white top when eating this!
We also tried the fried oysters, Cali fish taco & fried calamari. The Cali taco was a deliciously perfectly cooked piece of fish & appears to be a staple at Fish Market as lots of people seemed to be ordering it (can't go wrong). The calamari was also amazing, dusted perfectly & not overdone. Someone next to us got the Calamari Po' Boy & it looked fantastic (clearly, they like to overstuff the Po' Boy sammies!)
The fried oysters...sorry, I need to take a few seconds of silence to bow my head in appreciation. Epic! They were some of the best fries oysters I've ever had. They were fresh & cooked just right. Other places over cook them or the breaking is awful. Fish Street just hits the mark with their fried oysters. It still tasted like a fresh oyster complimented with the perfect savoury seasoning & crunch from the crispy coating. My favourite for sure.
Will absolutely return to try more food from the vast menu (hello Ciopino!) & grab another order of those sexy fried oysters!
FYI- laid back vibe, a couple of benches/limited seating & some of the friendliest staff. They were singing & chatting w/customers - the lady taking orders (Dani) even gave us some of their fresh smoked salmon to bring home!
