| - I just wrote up a review for the Thrifty location at SJC, which I use at least once every two months, and the review was glowing and lovely. Really, it seems to me like Thrifty can do no wrong at SJC.
The PIT location is slightly different. All the prices and cars are more-or-less the same, and that's great, but there's one big difference that accounts for the two-star divergence between my ratings for the SJC and PIT locations. That difference is the customer/car reservation board. SJC has one; PIT doesn't.
At PIT, I have to go to the counter in the terminal, potentially stand in line for ages, go through all the paperwork with the guy at the counter, and then, at long last, end up with keys to a car that's a quarter mile away. At SJC, I walk out to the parking garage, match my last name to a stall on the electronic reservation board, get in the car, and go along my merry way. PIT needs this. Badly.
In a frequent traveler's life, the only thing worse than standing in line at the car rental counter is standing in line at the airline customer service counter. Fortunately, we don't have to stand at the airline customer service counter every time we travel (ORD winter travelers excepted, of course ;) ).
