| - If I could give a zero star rating I would. I lived here for 2 years, transferred from a one bedroom apartment to a two bedroom. First move out from one bedroom was great, obviously because I was transferring and staying. Second move out when I moved from the complex, we received a bill for $157, keep in mind I already have over $300 in pet deposit and rent down, meaning they wanted $457 total from me when my apartment was scrubbed for two days, and the only sign that people lived there was from normal wear and tear on the carpet (which is in high traffic areas, so obviously this is bound to occur). When I first put these deposits down I was told the $150 non refundable was for extra cleaning for carpets and such for having the pet, which I agreed to because I'm well aware of that cleaning process. The other $150 I put down right then was refundable and we were assured we only wouldn't get that back if there were signs of our dog chewing up things and causing destruction, of which we had non whatsoever as our dog is extremely well behaved and kenneled when we are away (I even have pictures upon move out to prove). So upon receiving this bill, obviously I was shocked as we had already put down $300, and the reason I cleaned the apartment for two days straight was to GET my deposit back. They claimed that the carpet company charged them $237 for a carpet clean because of "heavy soiling" and "blacklight indication that there was pee everywhere," however had no pictures to prove this. So, instead of using the $150 nonrefundable deposit like they claimed they were going to do upon my initial payment, they claimed the nonrefundable deposit was to simply "HAVE" the dog!! Which I am extremely confused about because that was what the additional monthly pet rent of $30 was for?! So if you want to have a dog at Almeria, I'm sorry, ONE dog at Almeria, be prepared to pay $300 in "deposits", as well as $30 a month ($360 yearly). Don't let the dog park fool you, it's a way for them to make money off of you, NOT a dog friendly community.
I was really disappointed not only because of the lack of integrity of this company, and the poor choice of carpet cleaning services (as these companies know they can charge whatever they want because the apartment won't fight for their tenants and say the charge was too excessive), but mostly at the fact that they (especially Jessica and a few other office workers, NOT the managers after the encounter today) treated us well. This place was my home, I referred many people to this place, AND was a perfect tenant who never caused any problems and always paid on time, and they end up treating people like this. They also took a ton of money from our other friends who moved out as well. It's a sad reality that companies such as these really DON'T care about you, rather your money. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS APARTMENT COMPLEX TO ANYONE!
