  • After my previous debacle with this asinine company, I was given the option of a free cleaning. They urged that my next experience would alleviate any issues I had experienced with their prior "professional" and were apologetic for all the accidental charges they placed on my account. So I had my appointment scheduled for 2pm today... Someone arrives at 7 in the damn morning to clean my apartment. How? They don't know, but my cleaning had been mysteriously rescheduled. I called and told them I still had my booking email and it stated 2:00pm clear as day. Yet not only did someone show up 7 hours early, they charged my card a $25 cancellation fee yet again. Wonderful. My appointment was clearly made for 2:00pm, and they had no idea how it got screwed up. After they refunded me the $25, they "reset" my appointment to its original 2:00pm time and assured me they would find an available professional for the appointment. I got a call back and was told everything was good to go for 2:00pm. So 2:07pm rolls around and my "professional" Amber B. had yet to arrive. I tried contacting her directly and she did not answer, though it did ring. I decided to call Handy to find out what was going on. The rep tried to contact her listed number directly and this time someone answered but said "this isn't Amber. Wrong number." Well that puts my mind at ease. At this point it is 2:30pm, and I am speaking with a manager and she is trying to find a replacement to come out and do the whopping 2-hour job. As predicted, they have no one available for the rest of the day. Now at this point they offer to reschedule, which quite frankly I was not interested in whatsoever. They were persistent in offering to make up for the "many inconveniences" that were caused, so I explained that the only way in hell I am going to allow their "professional" to come near my home is if they send a top-performer with legitimate credentials and reviews. Period. They agree and reschedule the appointment, and assured me that they will directly assign someone reliable to the job. To be sure, I had them confirm that no charges would be made to my card. This was simply a rescheduled appointment across the board, nothing changed except date/time. They told me explicitly I would not be charged, that it was all good to go and the appointment was set for 2pm Sunday. Ok... As soon as I get off the phone I receive a notice from my bank via text (deja vu anyone?) saying I was charged $29. On top of that, I check the booking email confirmation and they had made it for 12pm, NOT 2pm as I requested. Are you serious? Am I in the twighlight zone? By this time I was feeling like a complete jackass, I should have learned my lesson the first time and discontinued any and all patronage with this loser of a company. I mean even their "complementary" bogus make-up cleaning is a disaster waiting to happen. I had to call back yet again and spoke with Paige who refunded my $29 without hesitation. I requested she completely remove my credit card information from her system. About an hour later, I get a call from yet another Handy rep telling me that the "professional" Amber, the no-show, had called and explained that her car broke down on the freeway AND her phone died and she was so sorry, but she would gladly come tomorrow at 11am... Ok... Yet the Handy rep from earlier in the day called this woman's cell directly on my behalf, then called me back to let me know that they tried to contact her, but whoever answered the phone completely denied that she was Amber and said it was the wrong number... So obviously that phone wasn't dead, unless they are so screwed up that they don't even have the correct contact info for their professionals. Honestly, it's not a good look either way. This company has major problems. There is a massive disconnect here. The folks in the Handy call center have no idea what is going on, and Handy can't even back up their own cleaners, provide support, or avoid overcharging their clients. They have managed to massively fail in every way possible EVERY time I tried their service. When they say these are "rare" issues, don't buy it. It's just sad at this point. At this rate, I don't think Handy will be around for much longer. It was a neat concept, but they are failing to execute it properly. Spare yourself the repeated grief and don't even take a "free" cleaning. Run!
