  • I've had a contract with the company for several years now. I bought a multi year contract because of the deal I was offered. I'm a veteran and teacher, so the contract deal was very enticing. Here's what you need to be aware of in terms of claims. If your total cost of claims exceeds what you paid for your contract, you are no longer eligible for replacement. During one of my conversations with a rep about a year and a half ago, I grew increasingly upset when they opted to cut me a check for a fraction of what it would cost to replace an appliance. When I argued the point that their ad stated they would replace if they couldn't repair, I was reminded that they were losing money on my contract. That's all I needed to hear to understand where I was at with the company. I've filed a couple of other claims since then and the outcome has been the same. I stopped using their contracted services, who by the way, often slam the company because they are aware of the obstacles and challenges in meeting the needs of the customer in a reasonable manner. I am using a licensed contractor for referrals now and have simply accepted that I'll get a few bucks thrown my way from the company. At this point, it helps offset part of the labor cost and I get the appliance or repair parts I want. . .not the cheapest parts or cheapest comparable appliances on the market. I get it. It's a business. They're in it to make money. Insurance is a risk on both end of the table and they always win. Customer service for the most part has been very congenial and helpful, but do not expect them to deviate from the script or company policies which sends everything to a "board" for review. Compensation takes time and will not necessarily be what you expect. Emergencies, such as a broken air conditioner in 112 degrees doesn't alter the course of review and time to resolve repairs. Unfortunately, their policies do little to inspire confidence in the company. I now set money aside every month for home maintenance issues. My recommendation to anyone considering a contract. . . read the fine print. Go into it with your eyes open.
