| - Arrived at the Aloft as we were attending the Bruno Mars concert, so wanted the convenience of location to where we were going.
After driving around trying to figure out parking (no details in the email you receive) and calling front desk three times with no answer, we called a friend as they were also staying and they told us where to park.
The young lady who checked us in was not friendly at all. She seemed very distracted, and I had booked two rooms and asked if our room was near their room. She looked bewildered and asked us how would she know that. She then said she had just turned up for her shift and wasn't really ready. I then asked if we had been upgraded for being a platinum member and could we get a room on the city side to avoid the noise of the Epicenter. She said that she assumed we had been upgraded and she "thinks" our room is on the city side.
Took the elevator up to our room, and we were in room 1413. Right by the bank of elevators. The room was ok. The carpet felt dirty and slightly sticky (take slippers or flip flops to walk around). The ironing board was the cheapest I have ever used. Bathroom was ok, nothing spectacular. Shower was fine, but on the smaller side, and the light didn't work very well in there, making it darker.
The elevator floors when we left around 5:30pm to go out were really dirty and messy.
We got back to our room that night after the concert around midnight. From then until 3:30am it was party central in our hallway. I understand people coming out of the elevators being loud, but to then party between a couple rooms in the hallway is not really on. We called down to the front desk twice and no-one did anything about it.
When leaving the next day we found one set of earplugs in the room with a note saying you could get a sleep package with a white noise maker and more ear plugs. I wish when we checked in that the young lady had informed us of this, or informed us of anything in the hotel.
Again, taking the elevator down to the parking lot the carpets in them were really dirty and needed a good vacuuming.
Normally when we stay in downtown Charlotte we have stayed at the Ritz, and I think I will in future. Was really hoping for the Aloft to be better.
