I've been to Vegas a few times but never had the chance to do the High Roller until my most recent trip. It was definitely a fun experience, but there was a bit of frustration along the way...
First of all, when you search for High Roller online there are about a dozen places you can go to purchase tickets. I always opt to go directly to the website of the venue I am visiting - rather than "discount" sites. However, the High Roller website was having technical difficulties - so I called them to find out about buying tickets.
The gentleman on the phone was not helpful and seemed annoyed that I had called. When purchasing in advance online, the price is a few dollars less than purchasing when you arrive. I mentioned this to him and he basically said "oh well, can't honor that." EVEN THOUGH he was aware their website was not working properly.
The ride is 30 minutes so my group didn't bother with the open bar, instead we bought a drink before boarding the ride - which worked out perfectly. The bartenders were helpful and the drinks were good.
The ride itself was smooth - we went on a week night so there were only 3 other people in our pod which made it easy to view the lights. It is difficult to take pictures because of the tv screens in the pod - they give off a major glare on the glass. Kinda disappointing - but of course they try to sell you pictures when you are exiting the ride.
All in all, it is a good time but expensive for such a short ride. Not something I would do again - but definitely something I would recommend doing, especially at night.
