They say first impressions are sometimes wrong. I say you can figure out how the establishment is even with a simple order 'to go'.
I called the restaurant on a Thursday night around 6 and spoke with Logan who put me on hold for 10 minutes. After that, I simply hung up and called again. A different person answered the phone and courteously took my order of spaghetti clams with white sauce. I remembered repeating the word SPAGHETTI since I didn't want anything else with the clams. I knew they had their dish called "Scialatielli" clams however I figured no Italian restaurant in town would be out of spaghetti. I also asked what the soup of the day was and the waitress didn't even know. Bad. At 6 o'clock your shift should have begun already. Not knowing what their soup du jour is already makes me not want to order it. Indeed I stuck with the spaghetti only.
After all this journey, I get to the restaurant and my order was ready. Good. But it was not what I ordered. The lady I spoke with did indeed put the Scialatielli with clams, which is more of a fat over cooked chewy version of the linguine with a little bit of red sauce. Too bad I didn't check on the moment. I would have sent it back and not paid for it.
What it pissed me more is that they really TRIED TO FOOL ME!! SCIALATIELLI IS NOT SPAGHETTI! The waitress came to me and with an attitude of an arrogant said that Scialatielli is the Italian word for spaghetti. NO. YOU BACK UP AND YOU SHUT UP!! I'm from Italy my dear, authentically FROM Italy. I was born and raised in Milan, been here for 3 years, my last name is Petrucci and I absolutely do not accept this prank.
Scialatielli might be a Southern Italian dialect for spaghetti. But it's not even close to it. In Italiano si dice spaghetti. Gli Scialatielli li conoscete solo voi!!!
If you didn't have spaghetti, I would have MUCH APPRECIATED YOUR HONESTY, instead of making me pay $25 (plus tip cause I personally always tip) for a lousy pasta dish.
I've heard the owner is from Benevento, perhaps she should go back there to make those Scialatielli. I would have hold my opinion if the food was good. But after the outrageous customer service, I cannot be silent.
No one likes to be made a fool of. I will do my best to DEFAME your business.
