  • I went there to purchase chocolates as a gift for a big milestone birthday for my dad as he did not want presents and I know how much he loves chocolate, I thought this would be a nice place to get some for him. I did end up trying one when he opened them but after taking a bite of one I didn't even want to finish it (and I LOVE good chocolate). It was super sweet and had liquidy stuff coming out of it. I expected it to at least be creamy not liquidy. It actually tasted like alcohol. It was kind of gross. It was supposed to be a box of truffles. The box I purchased was not cheap and it was a good sized box too. I was disappointed by this place. I thought it would be like a real (specialty) chocolate shop where you can actually choose your own chocolates to customize a box. This was not the case. The boxes are pre-packaged so you really don't know what you're getting. I wanted to get all dark chocolate. What's worse is the lady who worked there. She was not very friendly or helpful. I was trying to decide between the pralines and/or truffles. She told me they're the same thing....??? Say what? Umm...I know there's a difference between the two. I was just in Belgium last year and had some really fine chocolates while chocolate shop-hopping there. Honestly, I didn't think Germans were known for making chocolate but I thought I would try something new and different. Anyway, I asked her if they're (supposedly) the same then why do some of the boxes say pralines AND truffles? She couldn't really give me a legit answer. She said they just say that on there because people think they're different. O.o. My thought is, if you're going to hire someone to work there to sell and represent your product they should at least know what they're talking about. Then she told me the box I was purchasing would have more dark chocolate in it.....? This box was not only pre-packaged, it was also pre-wrapped. Umm...? Not sure if she said that because it was one of the bigger boxes...What an odd experience. I really don't like when sales people try to bs you. Either they're not too bright or they think you're stupid enough to believe what you tell them...or both! The only reason I bought the chocolates there was because I was in a rush and it was the day before I was leaving to go see my parents in Toronto and I wouldn't have had time to find something there as I was arriving the day before my dad's b-day. Needless to say, I won't be back and definitely would not recommend this store to any of my friends. The only decent thing about this place is that the shop 'looks' nice (despite not having a chocolate counter you can choose your own). I think the exterior door to go in is the nicest thing about this place. Like the two-star rating I'm giving this indicates, I've experienced much better. The organic, fair-trade Belgian chocolates I've purchased from Costco, yes, Costco are waaay better! Oh, and I didn't see any of the things I saw advertised on their website, which is what partly drew me in to this place. :(
