| - My son and I wanted a place to dine last minute New Years Eve, after calling around, everyone was booked obviously weeks in advance. I remembered a little jewel of a restaurant from the past and looked it up on line. It was still going strong ! Called, and they were booked also, but told me they has some high tops(small 2 person tables) in the bar area that were first come, first serve. So we headed out, and arrived around 8:00pm. Place hasn't changed outside, nor inside in thirty years. Movie stars framed on walls, white linen tables and booths,separate back room with small bar and 2 tv's. Was greeted at the front door, and welcomed as family. Led to the high tops and didn't even have to wait to sit ! You could sense the dimly lit atmosphere and old school Sinatra music was foreplay to the food orgasm that was soon to happen. The totally new kitchen addition that was added months prior hidden behind aged walls with so many stories to tell of celebrities that have dined here over the decades. The wait staff was genuinely friendly and eager to help and even the ones that walked by would recognize others and say hello, sometimes adding to a story or experience, treating everyone as family. I quickly realized this place would be a great addition to my regular dining spots, even though it's located directly across town from where I live and work(45 mins). Anyway, great steak, fish selection with abundant sides. Salad is huge if that's one of your side choices(two sides included) I ordered the filet mignon and crabcake combo ($40.00) and this is the only place that can cook it my way every time ! (I prefer medium to med-well, pink inside and no butterfly)Mashed potatoes and asparagus (both in separate dishes as they are plentiful) The wine selection is extensive, as is the beer menu. They have a corkage service also if you want to bring your own. Guests I have brought have eaten Lobster, and other items and always said the food was great. I tend to stick with the steaks. The friendliness of the entire staff is another reason to return, but the food will keep you coming back. So, if you like non pretentious cozy atmosphere with great people who will remember your name and treat you like family, and superb food at reasonable prices,then this place need to be on your radar ! Since, I now try to dine here every other week or so.
