I move a lot and I consistently come back to 24 hour fitness depending on location/availability. I like the variety of classes, and the people at the gyms are great. I recently moved and it doesn't make sense for me to continue my membership from a logistical perspective. Additionally there is a comparable gym closer to my home that charges half the monthly membership fees. As such, I called to cancel my membership (until my next move). I waited on hold for 20 minutes, and when they did answer, they wanted to charge me $130 to cancel despite the fact that I said I would likely come back after my next move (and also pay the rejoining fee). I talked them down to $55, but was still left with a bad taste in my mouth considering I've been a customer on and off for years. I paid the cancellation fee, but will never be a customer again. There are many other cheaper options that do not charge cancelation fees...
