  • I came here recently for a comedy show. Let's start with the positives. The music hall is historic, charming, and beautiful! I love the ornate decor. It's also a rather small venue with great acoustics, so it doesn't seem like there would be a bad seat in the house. The staff was extremely friendly and kind, which is always a nice touch. Now, for the negatives. First, the parking. As others have mentioned, this place is essentially located in a residential area, so there is no dedicated off-street parking and sometimes the only available parking is on side streets far away. Personally, I don't really think this is that big of a deal because I don't mind walking, but I can see how this would be a major downside for those who aren't able to walk long distances. The second major negative to this venue are the seats....I'm pretty sure at some point, those seats had to have been used as some sort of medieval torture devices. The chairs are wooden and there is no cushion or padding at all, so prepare to have a very sore heinie! There is also very little leg room, but that's fairly typical with older venues (and something I'm used to dealing with as a tall person). The lobby here is incredibly tiny, which makes it difficult to mingle before/after shows or just to make your way to the bathroom without elbowing people. Lastly -- and I'm not sure if this is always the case or not -- they had major temperature regulation problems during my visit here. I went on a winter night (it was cold, but not super cold...maybe in the upper 30's), and it was downright boiling in the theater. I mean, boiling to the point where I saw people fanning themselves with their hands and visibly sweating. There were a lot of elderly people in the crowd, and I was legitimately worried that one of them was going to pass out from the heat. It was really uncomfortable, and I was happy when the show was over so that I could get some air! Anyway, I hate to give such a charming, historic venue any less than 5 stars, but sadly, I just didn't have a 5 star experience here.
