| - I was in Pittsburgh visiting my mother in April, & I noticed one morning that new gray hair seemed to have popped up overnight. Normally, I would simply have waited until I flew home to have my hair colored at my local salon. But the gray seemed more pronounced than usual, and I needed to lift my spirits as well.
So, after some Internet searching & telephone calls, I discovered MCN. I chose MCN over other nearby Pittsburgh salons because I prefer to use natural, nontoxic products on my hair, and MCN offered Framesi natural organic vegetable protein hair color.
Naturally, I was slightly nervous about going to a new hair colorist, so I asked for an appointment with Jim, who is a Master Stylist & one of the owners. I called on a Tuesday and was able to get an appointment for Thursday! I was already thrilled.
From the moment I entered the salon, I felt like I was royalty. The very friendly woman at the front desk offered me a glass of water with a lemon slice -- and not in a plastic or paper cup, but in a wine glass! There were also cookies available at the front desk.
Next, one of Jim's assistants showed me to the changing room which had small lockers where I could stow not only my jacket but also my purse! What a delight not to have to drag my purse around with me or have to place it on the floor or risk something spilling on it.
Jim and his assistant made me feel like a duchess. Jim immediately put me at ease with his warm, kind, easygoing manner. He took plenty of time to consult with me about what I wanted, and I never felt rushed when I asked my usual lengthy list of questions. He truly listens to you, and cares about your preferences, comfort, and concerns.
And he gave me the most AWESOME hair color ever. My hair is dark brown but I wanted to do something this time with a little more pizazz to lift my mood, and so he added beautiful, warm auburn highlights. The result was gorgeous. Since returning home, I have received compliment after compliment. I love the way the Framesi natural vegetable-based hair color turned out, and I especially love knowing that the product they used on my hair is less toxic than other products I've used in the past.
I really loved my entire experience at MCN. The place is bright, airy, and open. The view is terrific, and the staff are friendly and attentive (and parking is free!) I felt incredibly pampered the entire time I was there. I will be returning to Pittsburgh this summer and I'm hoping that the timing will be such that I can have my hair colored again at MCN.
