  • I ran the Phoenix Marathon the day before visiting here, and a buddy and I were looking for something relaxing to do while recuperating. WE were going to drive through Tonto National Forest but decided to catch a spring training game instead. I have been to some Grapefruit games in Jupiter, FL, but this is my first, and probably only, trip to the Cactus League. The Brewers were playing the Dodgers. I have no affiliation toward any baseball team, so I didn't really care. The park is nice but a bit dated. The bleacher type seats along the baseline don't face home plate, they face the outfield. In order to watch the game, one has to sit sideways and crane ones neck toward home plate to watch the game. This made for an uncomfortable experience. The food selection also leaves much to be desired. They have like five stand with all the same stuff, but the good food selections are way out in left field. Why couldn't they have one in right field too? I got a nasty bratwurst and a beer and it cost me $16. The beer selection, buy the way, was horrible. It was Blue Moon, Coors Light, Coors Banquet, or some other god awful macro beer. The home team is the Brewers, as in beer brewer, and you cant have some decent beers on draft? I get all of the corporate sponsors, but seriously. How about some Milwaukee or WI type craft beers for the full experience? I'm glad I got the experience but there is nothing that sets this park apart from any other crappy minor league stadium.
