| - This is one of my favorite lunch spots in the area. It is a quaint little tea place that not only serves a variety of hot/cold tea flavors, but also serves amazing homemade food, mostly sandwiches, soups and salads at reasonable prices. My favorite dish here the pear and bleu cheese salad dressed with their very own herb and cheese dressing. I'm also a huge fan of the chicken and dumplings (not served every day). Oh and the bread it comes with! Always seasonal, always moist and warm.
And I haven't even gotten to the best part: DESSERT! Cakes, pies, tarts, meltaways, cookies...I have yet to order something I don't like. It's hard to choose just one when you can see all the desserts prepared in the glass case when you walk in. It is great with a mug full of the coffee of the day.
At first glance, this restaurant looks like it would serve no more than a dozen people at a time. In actuality, this is a very large restaurant, composed of different private and semi-private areas. I've come here for wedding showers, baby showers, and I imagine that it would be a fabulous place for a birthday tea party for a little girl.
I will say, this is not a great date place or a place for a macho man. It's victorian, I-just-walked-into-my-grandma's-house decor is not for everyone. Then again, I brought my boyfriend here once and despite the random dolls, paintings, and memorabilia, he said he would come back here again and again for the satisfying food.
