  • We switched to Cox from CenturyLink in an attempt to save money & get a more reliable internet speed. Initially, we took the cheapest package which was not very reliable so we upgraded. At that time we were offered Cox TV for $19.99 a month with free HBO etc. for two years, no contract, free installation. It sounded like a good deal but as it turned out the programming was terrible and the HBO was not in HD so I called back and was offered 220 channels & a new DVR upgrade for the same rate of $19.99 a month. I accepted the offer. Come to find out they installed Cox Contour and two weeks later we got a bill for $282.00! I was able to negotiate the bill down to $108.18 for both TV and Internet but for only six months, not two years. Beware of this outfit, they lure you in with special offers but when the bill comes it is much higher than originally quoted. At a minimum they practice unethical business practices bordering on fraud. I'm sure their goal is to get you as a customer and then load you up with expensive programming and when you complain trick you with short term offers. The only way to keep your bill affordable is to call every few months and ask for a new offer. They are banking on you being too busy to do this, thereby padding their bank account! Thankfully I have a handy husband who put up an HD antenna for our other TVs and we will be hooking up our primary TV to the antenna shortly and dumping Cox TV! We are retirees and it is sickening how these cable providers prey on Old retired people.
