  • This is a terrible school. I've heard about the way certain things have been handled here, but figured I'd give them a try as I needed a variance because my childs sitter had been watching him for 4 years and it was the most convenient option. Little did I know, this would turn out to be a nightmare. I applied for the variance in April and was told by the front desk that it was likely for him to get accepted into kindergarten (especially since they get a nice chunk of change for taking in new kindergarteners). Then the Wednesday before starting school, I get a post card stating that the class was too full. After rushing to the school in his district on Thursday, I get a call stating that he's been accepted. I think we are home clear, but oh how I was wrong. I pull up to the school Thursday, shortly after the call was received as they gave me a 45 minute window to submit his paperwork, and had half a mind to get back in my car when I got out because it reeked of Marijuana in the air, but submitted for enrollment despite my better judgment. Then we get to today; the first day of school. My son, mind you, is a couple weeks shy of 5, the final bell rings and he goes to get on the bus with the sitters granddaughters and is suddenly escorted off the bus because he's not allowed to ride it because of the variance. He's escorted to the office. I didn't receive a call until an hour later from the school. I had already found out from the sitter what happened, so when the assistant principal called me, I knew where he was. I was in tears because I couldn't believe that my baby was treated this way after me mentioning my intent to have him use the bus on several occasions. The principal got snappy with me over the phone despite me remaining uncommonly calm for such a horrendous manner of handling the situation. Frankly, I am livid over the situation and I don't think that anyone should attend this school if they can help it. The district will also be hearing from me regarding how this was handled. I'm simply outraged.
