| - Updating my review here. Reserved a table for a music-major friend coming in from out of town. We wanted to feel classy, spend lavishly, and drink enough wine to take to the dance floor. Check check and check.
We ordered three types of oysters, all of them fresh and delicious. At a toonie+ a pop, you better love slurping down some crustacean. Because we are classy, we love oysters, duh. Shh, don't tell anyone about my inability to grasp duck confit.
The staff gave us a beautiful table, perfect for my reservation for five, with a stellar view of the band but far enough away to be able to hear your guests. We tasted the house wine (boring) and happily went for an Oakland cab sauv for $44. Lavish, I said, and yes, it was tasty enough to warrant the terrible markup. C'est la vie.
By the time the band came on at 10:00 pm, the place was bustling with people chatting by candlight. No tables or chairs left. We got hungry again and ordered the mushroom pizza and a salad. Nothing here is cheap, but you get the bang for your buck with the delicious thin crust pizza, loaded with mushrooms and goat cheese and crisped a teeny bit at the bottom. Check it under Marinated Wild Mushrooms for $14.50.
The band was great, my dancing was terrible, and a good time was had by all (except my wallet, which took a beating). Reservoir Lounge is still a blast and much recommended for a classy night out with spectacular live music.
