| - I was extremely disappointed with our brunch today. Our party of 6 was celebrating a couple birthdays at a restaurant that, in the past, we'd had nothing but praise. The dissatisfaction started with $6 valet parking in a parking lot that blocks off all paved parking for valet. In a town where people wear sandals year round, have to shake pebbles out of your shoes before entering the restaurant isn't fun. Upon being seated, our waitress took a few of our drink orders while the rest needed time to decide. Brought those drinks quickly, then disappeared for a while. Eventually returned to take our order. Decided to try the Tangerine Freeze, a very decent shake, with booze, that tastes just like an orange push-up. It would have been nice had the person that prepared the drinks, also wiped all the ice cream of the outside of the glass so you could pick it up without getting sticky fingers. One of our dining companions wanted the breakfast flat bread, but can't have cheese. This proved a problem because all the flatbreads, every single one in the kitchen, were already prepped with cheese. Fine, orders something else. The omelette special was a ribeye steak with grilled onions and peppers. Came out, and actually looking like an omelette, instead of over cooked unscrambled eggs, a plus, but was barely warm and the steak was completely over-cooked and leathery. The avocado BLT tasted ok, but the bacon was soggy, cold, and far removed from crisp. The biscuit and sausage gravy was very disappointing; biscuits dry and tough, gravy cold and stingy. Most of the breakfasts included an English muffin, which was cold, soaked in butter, and not really toasted much at all. The potatoes where giant chunks of potato that had been deep fried, while seasoned nicely, they also were not crispy, actually almost soggy, and not remotely cooked all the way through. As others have noted, server attentiveness seems to fall off as the meal progressed.
Overall, I don't expect any in our group to return. It's apparent that the remodel a few years ago, not only took away the homey essence, but removed the kitchen from any semblance of providing warm, let alone hot food. An ignoble end, to what was once a great restaurant with an awesome view, and turned it into a restaurant simply going through the motions and charging a premium for subpar food.
