The Bon Ton Meat Market has been a Calgary fixture since 1921 when it opened on 7th Avenue. downtown. The building they were in was annexed by the City of Calgary in preparation for the winter Olympics so they moved to a location on Edmonton Trail N.E. Eventually they outgrew this location and moved on to their Stadium Plaza location.
The Bon Ton is famous for its quality cuts of meat, in store made sausages, hot and fresh meat pies, and customer service. If you're looking for a particular cut of meat for a special occasion this would be the place to go. You can literally custom order any cut of meat and they will prepare it while you wait. It is an old school neighborhood meat store with sawdust on the floor and actual meat cutters there to serve you.
I travel across town to buy special items like steaks, large roasts, etc. so if you're in the area it is definitely worth stopping to check them out.
