It's an interesting place. I walk by it all the time without thinking to come in...and so I didn't really know much about it. I thought it was purely a bubble tea place, bu it turns out to have more.
The owner used to live in Toronto, then went and taught design in HK and then returned here and opened a tea shop. So the inside is kinda cool!
When I came in, my friend told me to ask the owner will recommend me a tea. So the process is the owner read my palm...and then based on that recommended me two types of tea. First was a white tea, which was surprising to me because I really do like white tea. I didn't tell him so that I could see what he would recommend next. And then he recommended me something that was kinda strong (I think he said it was "raw" tea?). I could probably drink it, and sometimes I do want a strong tea. But on the day I went, I settled on a white tea. The owner then proceeded to explain how white tea is different from other teas and what the benefits were. Very education! Learned something at the tea shop...who'd thought?!
I noticed that they also serve food too. I didn't try any because we went late afternoon and had already eaten.
It's right in front of some UofT buildings (across the street), so there can be quite a few students in there as well. But this time of the year, there weren't so many (especially late afternoon).
I like the idea of having a tea place that I can go to here instead of only coffee!
