  • YES... Belk "back in the day" WAS THE STORE in the South! However, THE DAY has long gone IMO. Back in the 60s & 70s when there was a problem at one of the stores, the store manager (who knew a Belk) could call the Belk-in-charge to handle issues that arose in the stores & communities served, if necessary. Usually the local store manager JUST HANDLED IT! Today the Belk family has sold out its management & interests AND has moved on. ALSO... Belk CUSTOMER CARE has undergone a BI-POLAR split! Belk Customer Care has a 1-866-XXX-XXXX number. AND in case ANYONE HAS NOT NOTICED, Belk REWARDS Credit Card Customer Service is a SEPARATE 1-800-YYY-YYYY number @ Synchrony Bank in ORLANDO, FL! No doubt most folks have experienced the WONDERS of modern instant banking... you go shopping with your debit card and by the time you get back home your shopping spree is MEMORIALIZED by the deductions from your bank account balance instantaneously at each shopping site as you travelled about. THERE IS NO TIME DELAY... right? Well, it is right IF it is YOUR MONEY coming out of your account to pay them CASH equivalent funds at point of sale! IF HOWEVER the BELK REWARDS card is used... maybe because that 30-60-90 no interest SEEMS LIKE A GOOD bonus for 40-year loyal Belk Customers to use on a large purchase... then there MIGHT BE A NASTY SURPRISE IN THE OFFING. TRUE STORY... August payment due on a SUNDAY, the 23rd. A local bank (with online bill pay) is set to pay the bill on the 21st, And at 00:01AM 8-21-15 the account balance is reduced by the payment amount which is sent. One would think A PAYMENT moves with the SAME SPEED as all those debit purchases that are already subtracted by the time a SHOPPER RETURNS HOME. WELL, it probably did... but for some reason it does not get posted by the THIRD PARTY ANY TIME on the 21st! NOR at any time on the 22nd. Nor at any time on the 23rd! THE PAYMENT is finally posted on the 24th... AND the BELK REWARDS bank posts a LATE FEE as well... $25.00 additional charge. When you call Belk or go in to see them at Customer Service counter, the Belk payroll employee tells you NOTHING can be done by the store or the REAL BELK. Instructions are to call the BOGUS BELK at the 800# for billing questions/problems. When a customer calls to discuss WHY the payment posted FOUR DAYS AFTER the electronic withdrawal & sent payment from his bank, the BOGUS BELK employee at Belk Rewards Bank SAYS the payee bank delayed 4 days sending that ELECTRONIC DEBIT to them... even though it disappeared from the account balance JUST AT the MOMENT the 20th became the 21st. When the CUSTOMER/ACCOUNT HOLDER REFUSES to believe that an electronic payment... BANK TO BANK... takes FOUR DAYS to transit from bank to bank. and says that he expects that the LATE FEE will be removed since payment was made on the 21st, THE BOGUS BELK employee at BELK REWARDS BANK... (does what?) wait for it... HANGS UP! BEWARE of SYNCHRONY BANK, Orlando, FL! Their IT department writes software that takes 4 days to post instant payments... OR... they just GOUGE card holders BECAUSE THEY CAN... THEN HANG UP! WELL, REAL BELK DEPARTMENT STORES... owned by some corporate entity now... HAS LOST a LOYAL 40-year customer because of a RUDE BANK EMPLOYEE at your contracted card provider! GOOD JOB... GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE! Oh, BTW, REAL BELK... are you aware that at Carolina Place you are adjacent to MACY's??? Dillard's is a short walk away... there are also Kohl's & SteinMart in the neighborhood! Not to mention SOOOOOOOOOO MANY online shopping sites with free or very inexpensive shipping promotions. FOR SURE we will never again be wasting time (and/or gasoline) to go to the Belk website OR go to a brick&mortar BELK store! We are DONE with Belk! DONE FOREVER! IOW... Eek! Methinks not (EVER AGAIN). LOL... and REAL BELK Department Stores likely won't see a single cent of that late fee... goes to GREEDY Belk Rewards Bank! BAD RUDE GUYS/GALS DO WIN far more often than they should! And OH YES... I tried to call a warm-bodied breathing Belk Store manager (where we have shopped many times) to discuss this. The manager-on-duty's phone rang and rang without a pick up (50+ rings). The store manager's number went to voice mail. INFO left 3 days ago AND PROMISED RETURN CALL never happened. The ERA of BELK "YOUR HOME TOWN" Department Store, IS WAY LONG GONE! BEWARE,,, and BE LOYAL to YOUR OWN WALLET, folks!
