| - Stayed here for 5 nights and was very impressed with the quality of the room and service.
The room was huge and had a queen bed, large bathroom with Jacuzzi tub and separate shower, TV, stereo system, closet, two dressers, four windows, a desk, and an easy chair. There was more than enough space for two people so it was very comfortable. The building is very old, and when the hotel was built they kept the original walls, so they're made of brick and stone, which is pretty cool and gives it a unique touch.
The services were excellent, including a nightly turndown service with bottled water and chocolate. The gym is on the 5th floor and although it's fairly basic, it has enough equipment to do a simple work out, including a multi-use machine, benches, elliptical, and treadmill. There are bottled water and towels there as well, which was a nice touch. The lobby staff and doormen were very helpful and accommodating, they even let us leave our bags after checkout and called a taxi for us in advance (we had several hours between checkout and the flight home).
It has a bar and adjoining restaurants, as well as a rooftop bar (closed in the winter), and is about two blocks from Notre Dame. There are also lots of other bars and restaurants nearby. The rest of the city could pass for any other large city in North America, but Old Montreal has a lot of charm and character. I recommend staying there, and staying at the Hotel Nelligan. If I come back to Montreal, that's where I'll be.
