I do enjoy good Greek food and was excited to attend this event. We went on Saturday arriving around 6:45PM. We parked at the Middle school and waited for the shuttle. It came along within 5 minutes and took us to a staging area across the street. We also took the shuttle back and it was quick and easy. Well organized system to get you in and out of the festival.
We came for the food and were nervous when we saw the long lines and the table area packed. The wife searched out a spot and I stood in one line and the daughter went to another one. The line for the Athenia plate took 15 minutes which was about the same time as the Gyros. I got a couple of the Athenian plates which has chicken and or lamb, rice, cheese spanakopita and they were delicious. The daughter brought a gyro plate from another stand and it was delightful.
We got the Honey balls and they were amazing. We devoured them fast and fought over the last one. They were cooked perfectly and then bathed in some tasty honey. We also took home a large platter of Greek baked goods. They were all very good and even better with a morning cup of coffee.
The Church is so nice and the folks running the festival are well prepared to handle the droves of people heading to this annual event. I just wish they could do it twice a year as waiting for the next one seems just too long for something that is bucket list worthy. I am definitely going to be there next year with my appetite ready for this amazing culinary delight that come but just once a year.
