I have been a fan of StripSteak for a long time. This upscale modern steakhouse is located inside the Mandalay Bay Casino back towards the convention center area. They have a large bar and seating area with an open wood grill and aging coolers.
Service and selection are personal and top notch. This is an excellent place to get a modern twist on a classic steakhouse menu. The beef is the star with custom aged prime and waygu-style options. You will likely be offered complimentary duck fat fries with your order in lieu of bread which makes for a unique appetizer.
On my visit, I stuck with the classic combination of a steak and wine. Of course, this was a Mishima Reserve rib cab paired with a wonderful Bordeaux. The steak was good perfectly with a wonderful flavor and fattiness that complimented the earthy wine very well. The chef added a small cornbread muffin with the steak as an amuse. Paring the fries with the steak helped round out the meal.
Dessert was another level. StripSteak is justifiably famous for their beignets, but I chose the Affogado Bout It. This was simply amazing with a DIY serving of house made ice cream, fresh espresso, and Dragon's Milk Barrel Aged Stout. Combining the three made for a wonderful end to an amazing dinner.
This is a fun place to impress your guests with a fun take on a classic steakhouse. The cocktails and wine list are extensive and pair well with the food. The appetizers and sides are really good, especially when the fries arrive. The restaurant gets a bit more casino noise than usual, but there are few things wrong when you are devouring beef this good.
