Attempted to lease a Jeep Grand Cherokee from this dealer today. I am very fluent in the process in which it takes to lease a car. So much that I seek out someone in 'internet sales' before I ever head to the dealership. I'm VERY upfront in exactly what I'm searching for as I've already researched the exact car, money factory, residual, trade in, etc. Literally spell out the deal I'm looking for. I know I'm on the aggressive side so often times I don't even hear back from a dealer.
When a dealer does respond I expect they likely know what kind of customer I am and are willing to deal with me. I even follow up again before I drive there to avoid wasting both parties time. This dealership is an hour plus from my house, but they ensured me they have 'the best' deal for me.
I do not expect to walk in and get the poorest attempt at a bait and switch I've ever encountered. Literally they tried to push what I already knew is a worse finance deal for twenty minutes. I played dumb while they lied multiple times about how 'good of a deal' it was. It was super high pressure which I explained a few times that I was not going to work on the deal that way.
So eventually I get them to run the 'worse' deal lease. To their 'surprise' it was a better deal?! Who knew??(I did!) They again lied and tried to tell me the numbers must have just changed overnight. Of course I know the rates are set month by month and haven't changed since March 1st. At this point I think we are 10 lies deep? That's about 1 lie every 4 minutes I've spent inside the dealer- pretty impressive!
I quickly thanked them for their time, shook the reps hand, and was on my way. Three hours of my time wasted. They could have easily just ignored my request if it didn't make sense for them to take it.
Be very careful or avoid this dealerships even if you are versed on car buying. They will attempt any and every bait and switch possible. Not versed in car buying? Stay far far away as you will get ripped off.
