| - This review is based on my visit on July 12th, 2015.
In the past, I have never had any issues with Paradise Bakery. In fact, I have always really enjoyed their food. Unfortunately, that streak came to an end today when I stopped in with friends as we had coupons.
Upon walking in the door, I noticed that this was certainly one of the larger Paradise locations. I also noticed that it had a very modern decor and rather pleasant atmosphere for a simple bakery and café. Unfortunately, I also noticed a large group of employees simply standing in a circle talking, oblivious to the fact that customers were standing there, ready to order. They did end up turning around and told us we could order whenever we were ready, then went right back to their social hour. I had made a decision and approached the counter but had to wait a minute or two for the employees to wrap up their conversation - very poor customer service. I settled for a Turkey Bacon Bravo Sandwich and a cup of their Chicken with Wild Rice Soup, part of their very affordable "Choose 2" deal. This also came with a small chocolate chip cookie.
After the lengthy order process, I sat down and began eating the sandwich, which tasted rather bland and simple. Overall, it was certainly palatable but I would choose something else in the future. The soup was FAR worse than the sandwich, however. It was incredibly watery and even less flavorful than the sandwich. Fortunately, they always seem to get the baked goods right. The cookie was soft and packed with flavor, which made for a pleasant ending to a rather poor meal. When the time came to handle the remains of my meal, the only place to dispose of trash and replace the trays was to the far back of the restaurant, which, while not the end of the world, was very inconvenient, as I believe it would be simple to add a further trash collection area near the front of the store.
Overall, I probably wouldn't return to this location. The service was very poor, the food lacked flavor, and it was inconvenient to find the location to dispose of the food remains. After loving Paradise for so long, this visit certainly makes me rethink whether or not I will return in the future.
