| - The only good part about the Distillery District - Ontario Spring Water Sake company aka IZUMI.
I came here during a hectic 48 hour tour of Toronto. Basically, I took the bus in from Pearson, dropped my bag off at the hostel, paid for Bixi, biked here (all so far on an almost empty stomach), walked around, was totally disappointed, then found the sake brewery.
I had a great chat with Tomomi here about the various kinds of sake made at this place. These guys specialize in unfiltered sake which has a slightly more pungent taste in addition to the floral taste you get from junmai, ginjo, and daiginjo sake. it's really good stuff, and on that empty stomach of mine I drank 3 or 4 little cups.
Even NYC doesn't have a proper sake brewery to call its own, but Toronto has got that checked off its list.
Friends don't let friends drink - and then Bixi off into the sunset - on an empty stomach. But that's what I did, folks, and I lived to tell the tale. Amen to that.
