Oh my goodness.
My love affair with Osteria Papavero most definitely started from the very first visit.
As most restaurants around the square are great for date nights, Osteria Papavero definitely turns the romance up a bit with a lovely intimate space that doesn't feel too dark, or too intensely moody.
Having eaten here several times now, I'd have to say that you can't go wrong ordering from their regular menu. I personally love hearing the specials and almost always go with one of them for my choice of entree. Their food is really on point whether you decide to come here for lunch or dinner and one of the items I tend to come back to again and again during dinner is the Antipasto di Mare. This is an appetizer dish that is three different small servings of seafood that changes nightly. It ranges from soft shell crab, to scallops, to beautiful luscious tuna, and everything beyond. Each small dish is always wonderfully prepared and I absolutely love the fact that you can try a little bit of three different things to start off your dinner. Secondly, the butterscotch pudding is absolutely DEE-VINE. It's a heaping portion of perfectly creamy and deliciously butterscotchy (that's a word now) pudding that is in the right range of sweet where you don't feel ill after finishing off the entire bowl (which you will). The Panna Cotta is probably my number two for dessert, but I'm a sucker for anything in the gelatin/custard family for sweets.
From the very beginning Osteria Papavero has always been outstanding, with remarkable service to top it off. This restaurant will always hold a fairly large spot in my heart.
