Okay, what's with all the hating? I finally tried this place and I am glad I did.
My friend and I both did the chicken combo so we could share and sample more than one side dish. We ordered the deep fried mac n cheese and the coleslaw. The mac was okay, but could have used a bit more flavour to balance out the deep fried coating. The coleslaw was very different tasting and it took me a bit to figure out what made it taste unusual was the coconut in it. I liked it!
Let's address one of the major complaints people have been making - this whole the chicken is too crispy thing. It is fried chicken; isn't that a good thing? I found the chicken done really well. It was crispy on the outside, but the inside was juicy.
And the doughnuts were good too. We had the vanilla and spice one which was basically a sugar doughnut. Nothing earth shattering, but enjoyable. Our second selection was the chocolate peppermint which we both really really liked. Comparing them to Tim Hortons seems deplorable! These tasty treats were so far from that!
As a final comment, addressing the price point, I don't feel anything here was out of line for the quality of food we had. If I didn't have to think about my waistline, I would be back here a lot. But I do, so I will have to say I will return again the next time I feel like a calorie splurge!
