  • I've been a patient of this practice for over 6 years now. The reason I went was because I had a nodule that was growing and no one knew why. It grew a substantial amount over the past 5 years. After 3 biopsies, multiple bloodwork and ultrasounds they still had no idea why this was happening. By the beginning of this year I was starting to get frustrated, it's costly even with insurance and also nodule biopsies are no fun and all they told me was 'we don't know what's wrong. Blood work looks fine, lets do another procedure in 6 months'. Every time I go in here, I see a nurse practitioner, but I still pay the price as if I was going to see Dr Rudgear. I tried to change my appointment to go with Dr Rudgear but she is booked up so many months in advance I always ended up having to go with the NP. The reception staff is funny, I don't know how many times I argued that it's a little crazy that I pay to see a doctor and I see a NP and still pay the same amount. In their opinion it was all the same, apparently Dr Rudgear and her NP have the same level of expertise!!! It made me laugh. I would truly hope that Dr Rudgears expertise is more advanced that her NPs. I have seen Dr Rudgear 3 times in 6 years, that was for my biopsies, that's all. Anyhow, in March I had my 3rd biopsy, decided to go with Afirma instead of the Pathology center, maybe results would be different. Fortunately or unfortunately it all came back the same! I decided to opt for surgery and they referred me to an amazing ENT in Scottsdale who did a phenomenal job. Now surgery is over, bills paid, and all of a sudden I get a 4th bill about a biopsy. I call and apparently someone in the office sent my tests over to the pathology as well as Afirma, Really? I was pretty frustrated, as if the bills previously weren't enough. After a slow and lengthy month and a ton of persistence to stay calm it got sorted out. My last straw was when I went in for my bloodwork after my surgery, I saw the NP as usual. So the NP tells me she wants me to start medication, and they "only" prescribe Synthroid. I was surprised by her statement since Synthroid is much more expensive than its generic, and I am in my early 30's and will have to take this for the rest of my life. So I did some digging on the internet and it looks like Dr Rudgears office makes a lot of money from the drug Synthroid. But that's to be expected if that is "all" they prescribe. I found this online (https://projects.propublica.org/docdollars/doctors/pid/79757) For me this is my last straw. My NP unfortunately does not have enough knowledge for me to pay as if I see a doctor and I feel they want my money more than anything.
