| - As a lady in the market for custom clothes, I was referred to Tom James via a representative for another custom clothier, Balani. Sadly, Tom James was a huge disappointment and I would absolutely not recommend it for ladies' tailoring. I ordered a two-piece suit and two tailored shirts. Three months later, the order for the shirts had to be cancelled because up against a work deadline for which I needed these pieces, there wasn't enough time to get the fit right. After four last-minute fitting appointments, I ended up accepting the two-piece suit, and have greatly regretted it. The fit is much worse than all my off-the-rack suiting, with the jacket being too loose and the skirt too tight. Worse, the seams don't match so the skirt and jacket don't present a cohesive design. I don't like the styling, although we were so concentrated on trying to get the fit right that my concerns about the styling were never addressed. The sleeve buttons are non-functional (although the suit cost over $1000) and oddly large, and the skirt has a cheap-looking slit instead of an overlapped vent.
I have called customer service multiple times, and not received any reply. In summary, for ladies' business clothes, you shouldn't trust Tom James.
