| - Yay, I'm excited to have found an authentic Korean restaurant in Madison! We came in on a Saturday night, and every single table was full, which was also a good sign.
We waited about ten minutes for a table, and then received our banchan. I wish they had more, but the potatoes were yummy and the kimchi was also solid, not too acidic and the right amount of flavorful.
For starters, we had the dukbokki and the kimbap. The dukbokki was hot, had a little kick of spicy, and the sweetness wasn't overdone. As for the kimbap, I really enjoyed the consistency of the rice and how warm it was, a super satisfying dish.
For mains, the seafood jungol was a little bland for me; it was a lot of spicy but lacked salt. The beef bulgogi was extremely tender and one of the stars of the meal. The jambong was the perfect hot soup for a cold winter day; it was like a more flavorful jungol that was slightly less salty with noodles that were kind of like udon, but slightly thinner.
Our waitress was friendly and knowledgeable. I loved that this place felt like a local, family-run restaurant that wasn't trying to impress with flashy atmosphere, but rather a home cooked and hearty meal.
