| - I had to purchase a new RO system to replace our 15 year old unit from Watts Premier. This local company has been around a long time, but their growth has definitely affected their customer service.
First, our pressure tank died after 13+ years. The new one only lasted a year, if that. When it failed, it mixed oily crap from under the bladder with the water, and made us all sick. (We correlated that to when the water tasted funny). Basically oil came out of it when I drained it completely. Yuck. Was it from the tank or the air compressor they fill it with?
We were due for filters, and needed a new tank, and since the unit probably clogged the 5 month old membrane because the pressure switch never switched on, we had to replace that too, so it made sense to buy a whole new unit. We bought the new style with the pushbutton filters to make it less messy to change them, and subsituted the plastic tank for the metal one, so, hopefully when the bladder dies, there will be no crud under it like the metal tank...
Well, they don't do phone support well, you have to wait a long time, and their "call back" feature just doesn't work. They also will only honor online pricing over the phone if you have a problem with your current unit, it appears.
They also don't do custom orders well, as the wrong parts were packed and I didn't find out until that evening when I was 35 miles away. I just went out and bought new tubing closer to home.
I sent an email asking for a call back the next day, but didn't get it. I happened to be driving by for another reason, so stopped in and talked to the will call person and she was very helpful. She gave me a completely new (correct) accessory kit, and also gave me a free filter set for my first filter change.
Hopefully they will fix the phone and email support issues, and hopefully the custom kit I ordered was just a one time screw up. Perhaps they will read this and look into the problems, otherwise, people will just buy others made overseas...
