| - I called this property inquiring about a rental and Sandra Carter told me a house that I saw online wasn't available, when my white HUSBAND called her an hour later she said the same house was available and even tried to get him to come see it. When I called back to ask for an explanation as to why she lied to me, she started by saying she doesn't have to justify herself to me, and I said I would report her to management, and I thought she was unprofessional. At this point any pretense of professionalism was gone and she yelled in the phone to me "You don't scare me, F you nigg-r. " (I have the recording). I was stunned and quickly hung up and called back and asked to speak to a manager. Sandra Carter answered again and she said "don't call back, the manager doesn't want to speak with you". Two days later, I called and was able to speak to the manager, at first he was very cordial and polite, but when I told him what happened and offered to play the recording for him, he said "you can't go around recording people, it's illegal and I'll sue you". I said I don't want anything I just want to highlight that your staff called me a racial slur. He said "why did you record the call?", I said because when I called the first time she told me the house I saw wasn't available, and my white husband called and it was available for him, so I wanted to record the call for that reason. He said "so you were looking to entrap us" and called me a "race hustler" and said "what are you going to do now call your daddy Al Sharpton to come shake us down??" I said "look I don't want no trouble, I just think you should not have employees that are racist and try to not rent to people of color, Is that so much to ask in 2017??? I wasn't looking to start any trouble, I was just trying to find a place to live, I'm pregnant with twins and we need a bigger house, and my husband is white and a Marine. The last thing I want is to start a racial conflict with you or your business." The manager then asked "why did you have your husband call back to entrap us?" I said "no he called back to inquire about other properties, You had available, it was Sandra Carter that told him the property that she told me wasn't available was available for him." He said "well whatever maybe it would be easier for you if you didn't look to play the race card when you don't get your way." I said "I never played the race card" it was Sandra Carter that brought up race, when she said "F you nigg-r" He said "ok I'll talk to her, but don't expect an apology, when you go around playing the race card, some people get turned off" I said ok that's fine if that's your attitude, I will make sure I let everyone know the truth about the racism of Sandra Carter and your property lying about availability to minority tenants. He said "bring it Mrs. Sharpton, tell your daddy to call me". I hung up. I think this place is racist and if you look at the staff picture you will see that there is few if any minority staff either. It's sad that in 2017, places like this exist. And it breaks my heart. I'm in tears right now as I write this.
