Came here a week or so ago for a birthday ice cream treat! I had been wanting to try this place and see what all the hype has been about. We came with a larger group of 6 people on a Saturday evening. There (of course) was a line out the door and down the street to get in. My friends and I waited in the line, which I have to say, moved steadily and the wait time really wasn't bad at all. I also liked the ordering system here of paying first, then moving to the next phase of your ice cream experience to watch the employees make your treat. It kept things moving along and organized as the shop is really small and was at capacity the whole time we were there. I'm giving this review 4 stars for the super friendly staff members and overall good experience we had here despite the line out the door. It is a fun thing to do if you are wandering around Butler St.
I went with the "Muddy Sneakers" which was a special flavor that day. Other flavors we tried were the Peanut Butter Chocolate, Mint Chocolate, Birthday Cake and another friend made a sort of "Spumoni" flavor with chocolate, pistachio and cherries. Each item was 7.00 and some change - which is obviously a little steep for ice cream, but really what you are paying for here is the experience and atmosphere. All of the ice creams are made with a milky liquid base - the ice cream rolls are good - but not great. They are definitely more like frozen milk than a super premium ice cream, which they have to be in order to freeze on the surface. The actual taste of the ice cream for me was a 6/10 - but I think it may have been my flavor choice too. The Muddy Sneakers was again just good - not great. It really tasted milky/watery to me because I chose the vanilla ice cream base, which I didn't love. I would like to go back and try a chocolate based flavor.
Overall, Naturoll is worth a trip if you have never been before. I'll definitely be back to try some other fun flavors!
