  • The owner of the spa I work at generously decided to put me through laser school and chose Bellagio laser clinic as they were offering discounted tuition on living social. The living social was no longer available online, but after emailing Dr Kim, he agreed to let us pay him this value directly. I tried to sign up for the next available class in May, but I was told by Audra that the next available class would not be until July. I asked if I could be put on the cancellation list and she said she would give me a call if anything changed. I called two days before my start date in July to see what supplies I would need and she said the class had been cancelled and she thought he had contacted everyone. At this point I was very frustrated because I wanted to start in May already and we had already paid for the class. Had I not called I would have showed up to an empty building, I'm sure. She then told me that the next available class would not be until September, two months later! This was really inconvenient, but I agreed to sign up for the September course along with the another esthetician at our spa. Seven days before the start date of this course we receive an email stating that the course is being postponed to October in order to get all of the licensing in order. By this point I have been waiting to get into this class since May (I can't imagine the frustration of the people who bought the living social in January!) So, now I am even more frustrated, but there is nothing that we can do, so the esthetician and I both enroll now for the October course. We decided in the meantime to set up tours of a few different schools, but still having full intentions to go to their school as they are affordable and backed by the ARRA. The other schools we visited were happy to show us their lasers, facilities and machines. Some even said they had heard about the disorganization at Bellagio and they had many students transfer from there due to the problems. Along with the other tours we, of course, set up a tour with Bellagio. I emailed them about a tour and said that we would only be able to tour the facility when we pay our tuition in full to ensure we would steal any business ideas. WHAT?! Number 1, it's shady how defensive they got about their lasers and "business ideas," and number 2, I already paid my dues in May!!! I told them this and they responded by saying I would have to provide proof I had paid or I wouldn't be able to attend class or tour the school. I went back to the bank statement in May and provided them with the proof that they needed. I then called up their office and scheduled a tour for later that week. On that day, before we made the trek from the west side all the way to North Chandler I called two hours before to confirm my appointment. The owner of the spa and I showed up to Bellagio to an empty lobby. The accountant, Ray, came out to greet us, but wasn't sure why we were there or who we were. He made a phone call to find out where Alexis was, and said that no one knew about the tour and asked if we could come back tomorrow. We explained that we had just driven over 30 miles to see the facility and after all of the events that had taken place (the postponements, the loss of our receipts, the losses we suffered because the class had cancelled and the accusations that we would steal their business ideas, etc) we were feeling very concerned that the class would not happen on October 5th. Things looked like they were barely being set up!!! We did express appropriate frustration, but we were by no means screaming or berating this guy. He sympathized with us and said he would speak with Dr. Kim himself an he would call me personally to "make this right." Now, I don't know what Ray said to Dr. Kim or if perhaps Dr. Kim just has too much pride (as evident by the rest of the reviews here about Dr. Kim and his staff), but here is the email I received that night which he also CC-ed to the rest of his staff: "I have given you a discount out of my generosity, and you have shown anger towards my Comptroller who is not even involved. My assistant Julie made a mistake in scheduling your visit. However, I do not understand why you need to see my machines. I am officially cancelling Holly's enrollment in class, and will refund her $400 as soon as possible. Ray and Julie, Pls refund Holly of her discounted tuition, and take off her enrollment. " Now, after all the events that have taken place it is clear that we are much better off attending a better laser school. Looking back, I am blown away at the lack of professionalism and rudeness of Dr. Kim. I'm sure his staff and laser school would be much more successful if he was not so disorganized, arrogant and spiteful. Stay away from this place!
