I've been relatively happy with Charter for the past year, but recently received a letter notifying me the "promotional period" of 12 months is over, so they're raising the internet rate about 45% (44.99 to 64.99).
I called and asked if there was something that could be done to get a lower price. The service rep offered to upgrade the speed from 60 mbps to 100 mbps (was supposed to already be at 100 mbps!). As I kept re-stating the price was the only issue, the rep said the $64.99 price was the "most compatible in the area" and there was nothing she could do.
I've heard people calling Spectrum with this same issue and they might get $15 taken off their monthly bill, but my experience unfortunately did not yield the same result.
Charter Spectrum's marketing pitch should be more like, "Here at Charter Spectrum, we appreciate customer loyalty, so after a year with us we'll increase your internet bill by 45 percent! Sign up today!"
