| - The WAX bus rocks! Screw paying $20-30 for a cab. It's only $2 and it'll take you right downtown. (It's also usually pretty empty, so no problem bringing along all of your luggage.) We stayed downtown for the first two nights of our trip and it was so easy peasy to figure out! It also makes 1 stop at the strip at the corner of Tropicana and Las Vegas Blvd, so it puts you out behind the Tropicana Hotel. Depending on where you're staying on the strip, it could work for you. You can cut through the Tropicana property and take the escalators to get to the tram that runs between Luxor, Excalibur and Mandalay Bay. The second leg of our trip was at Mandalay, so we got dropped at that intersection, cut through Tropicana and took the tram to Mandalay Bay. It took a little bit of work and navigating on our part, but we were able to hack it.
It's also really easy to find at the airport. Just follow the signs for ground transportation and then you'll see escalators that will take you to the "zero" level. The zero level is where all the limos and buses park. Walk towards the right and you'll see a bus stop. There's 3-4 different buses that depart from this location, so don't get confused. Just look for the one that says WAX on front (no number associated with this bus. If you see a # on the bus, that's the wrong one.) If you're not sure if it's the right bus, just ask. I'm sure they get annoyed always giving directions, but hey -- it's better than getting on the wrong bus.
The bus driver we had was a bit unprofessional in the way that he was talking to another city employee that was on the bus, but the price far outweighed the loose lips of the driver, so I'm still giving it a big 5 stars.
