| - Had a nice lunch with some friends at Kenko today, after hearing the hype about the boba and the sushi options. Seating area is large and very comfortable. Very busy lunch rush just after 12pm, that thinned out considerably by 1pm.
Build your own sushi is actually very reasonable, fresh, and quick. The roll I had was delicious (seaweed wrapper, white rice, crab, pickle, avocado, seaweed powder, yum yum sauce) and took a minute or two, no complaints there.
However, my friend and I also opted to try one of Kenko's teriyaki bowls--I had the beef with brown rice (extra yum yum sauce), my friend the shrimp with white rice. The meat itself was well-seasoned and the yum yum sauce (a ranchy spicy mayo) addictive. The brown rice, however, was overcooked and watery.
The kitchen and front end were quite disorganized and we waited at least 15 minutes for our bowls, while our friends waited for us with their sushi at our table. They're still a new place and have some kinks to work out in terms of moving things along, but the food has promise. Will be back for the sushi, maybe not for the teriyaki bowls, and definitely to try some boba!
