| - Stayed here for a test that I had to fly to Charlotte to take. It was downtown at the BB&T center, and I got a good deal on this hotel from Expedia so I booked it.
Checked in late on a Sunday night after coming straight from the airport, and was happily greeted by the signature Hilton cookies :) yum. Easy checkin, and I was able to request a room on a higher floor to see the cityscape and far away from the elevator so as to decrease the potential for excessive noise as I was taking a test the next morning. No problem in accommodating me.
I got up to the 8th floor and the door on my hotel room was THE MOST DIFFICULT to open I had ever experienced with a modern hotel key. I almost thought it was programmed wrong, and seeing as I was alone and carrying all my stuff I didn't want to go back downstairs if I could avoid it. I finally got in but then I didn't want to leave again. So I ordered room service seeing as there was not too much around for dinner at 10:00 on Sunday anyway without getting an uber. I didn't feel like leaving the general vicinity or getting a car, and room service was decently priced compared to the convenience factor. Came up LIGHTNING fast and was hot, and wine was chilled.
I did have concierge call me and ask me to turn down a Bluetooth speaker I had playing in my bathroom around 8:00 pm-it wasn't late and it wasn't loud yet someone complained. Seems a little bit tattle tale to me, but whatever, I wasn't about to get kicked out. The bed here was huge and beyond large enough to sprawl out in for just me, and the towels and robe were luxurious as well. For a trip that wasn't the most fun overall, at least it was a good stay here, this was a great place to rest my eyes.
