| - There's something in the water in the heart of Henderson -- and no, it's not the duck pond at Sunset Park. However, the list of coffee shops in this surrounding area continues to grow undeniably from Sunrise to Mothership to Pour and now to Coffee Hunter, all within 3 miles. Furthermore, if you continue heading south on Eastern, you'll encounter the latest trend of wizardry and butter beer lattes at Bad Owl, but that's for another review. Bottom line: we've got mad coffee options in this neck of the woods and we know it.
Coffee Hunter is situated in the Walmart Neighborhood shopping plaza. Walking in, it reminded me a lot of Mothership with its similar white backsplash contrasted with dark reclaimed wood and succulent plant trimmings, but definitely with a lot more space. Local artwork adorned one of the walls and the customer before me looked like he walked straight out of Portlandia with his ear gauges and flannel top. Well, it was fitting because... hello Stumptown Coffee.
I ordered a 12 oz nitro brew, which came out to $4.87. A little steep, but that's the price you pay for cold brew on tap infused with nitrogen. I had to research this myself once, but for those unfamiliar -- nitro brew comes out from a spout like draft beer. Adding nitrogen affects both taste and texture. The result is a crisper, slightly sweeter taste in addition to a Guinness-like foam on top. It's incredibly strong too, so I always have to split mine with someone or take micro-sips. I'll probably stick with just the cold brew next time. Not really fan enough for nitro.
PS -- They also sell Cornish Pasty products and other artisanal items, like jerky, energy bars, and brigadeiros.
