| - This is a real life Willy Wonka Chocolate Factory, I didn't see any but there are probably a team of oompa loompa in the back. I went 1 day last week, first just looking around, kind of window shopping, it was empty. I stayed 20 minutes and was the only one as I browsed. There's only 1 person working the shop, makes sense. Came back the next day, around the same time-of-day, this time to buy what I decided I wanted: the 64-piece custom picked box ($85) as a gift to share. The same young man (Rich) was working solo. This time, I had to wait 20 minutes for the woman in front of me to complete her order. Rich wrapped her 5 gift boxes of chocolates, carefully, meticulously, with gloved hands, he didn't rush, tied a pretty bow on each box. Great customer service, I didn't mind waiting.
My turn. I chose 1 of each (domed) truffle, colored bon bon, square/cube truffle and 2 of each caramel. I omitted anything with alcohol, a preference, there were only 5 in all, with real alcohol in them. Meanwhile a line of 5 others formed behind me, they all waited patiently. We could see Rich, working diligently and I think everyone appreciated his care for what he does.
My favorites:
square truffle - hazelnut praline
domed truffle - matcha
colored bon bon - mint chocolate chip
caramel - fleur de sel (so buttery)
In other reviews below, a lot of folks think the "downside" of Jinju is that it's pricey. I respectfully disagree. It's very fair, considering everything is handmade and the quality of the ingredients. They also have a wide range of items, priced low to high. The individual truffles, caramels, bon bons are all between $1.50 and $2.50. If you buy the 64-item box it's $85, $1.33/piece. They sell cookies ($1.50), muffins, croissant ($2.70), sliced cake ($5.25), lattes, drinks, fondue, etc. Everything was beyond heavenly. They'll offer you a sample when you browse. There's no pressure, they answer all your questions and make you feel welcome even if you just want to wander around and look at all the pretty edibles. Parking is easy right out front, it's easy to find. I'll be back and will probably do mail order for gifts when I need to get something fun/special for a friend or client.
