I took my family to the pumpkin patch for halloween. They really enjoyed it; however, I was a bit disturbed by the state of many of the farm animals; one of the horses had open wounds, one was kicking repeatedly at its cage door, another biting the metal bars, as if having been driven mad by their confines. Others had masks presumably to keep them from being startled by the crowds. Many chickens appeared to have mange (or an avian equivalent) and were often pecking at each others' raw, featherless backs. I'm not at an expert in animal husbandry but they seemed much worse off than, say, the petting zoo at Bonnie Springs.
