  • This was my first trip to Las Vegas & it was extra special because I turned 21 the day I arrived! I was really excited and stayed at the Park MGM because it was one of the cheapest and it's close to all the attractions of The Strip. The Basics: This was floor 23, room 123. Stay: End of April 2018 (perfect weather! not too crowded!) Booking: we called first to talk to someone so we could have all of our questions answered. She was very easy to talk to and had a ton of information. She suggested we book through their website, so we did and I got charged the deposit THREE times!!! Luckily I had a lot of money in my account, otherwise I would have been VERY angry. Fortunately, they gave us $10 off every night we stayed, which helped a little bit. She also promised us a nice view of The Strip for our inconvenience. So I suggest calling and booking the room that way, they told us we would get an automatic discount if we booked online but after trying that and getting over charged I decided to say, "screw that". Special Request: We called the Monte Carlo (now Park MGM) three times before arriving to get information, check on our reservation, etc. we told them each time, we want a Strip view, it's our first time, and it's my birthday on top of all that. They were pretty sure we would get what we wanted because they value first time clients & it's my birthday. But they told me the first time we called, "it's only a request - nothing is set in stone" but after my card was charged three times, they guaranteed our request. So we were really excited and had high expectations.... sadly. Checking In: Upon arrival the people at the help desk were very accommodating because we had some special requests like paying for the deposit on our card & the room in cash. The person helping us was a little annoyed because of the cash and didn't want to do "extra work". Then the man said that they reserved us the 3rd floor with a crappy view, so he "upgraded" us to the 23rd floor with a view. We were expecting it to be The Strip view we requested and was ensured we would get... sadly it was the view of the T-Mobile Arena and the back of the New York buildings. But a view is a view I guess... The Room: Nicely renovated, cool lighting, but no mini fridge which was a little annoying because we're in the middle of the desert and my water was always warm but manageable with the ice box they had in the room. We did not care for the "Stay Well" amenity of having an "air purifier" in our room, it was weird and gave me a headache. Our bathroom however had some problems. The toilet didn't flush the entire first night and next morning. The shower did not drain fast enough either, to the point where my feet were fully submerged in water and it almost overflowed out of the shower a couple of times. So I called the morning after we checked in to ask for someone to come fix the toilet, we waited 30 minutes and called again, apparently they never put our toilet fix request in and we had to wait 30-40 minutes for someone!!! We were pretty annoyed about that considering NEITHER of us had used the bathroom yet that morning and not to mention, my boyfriend has Celiacs disease so he was in pain all morning. But when we came back an hour later since we had to go use a public bathroom and get breakfast... the toilet was finally fixed. The Casino: The renovation definitely brings a new, fresh feel to the casino floor. I love the grand chandeliers and the layout of the casino floor. I don't love how dark it is, and how it's really hard to get a server while playing the machines. I also was in love with the bar and how it's just one big circle in the middle of the casino floor, very well done! It was more bland than the rest of the casinos we visited though. The Pools: There are three of them and only people who pay for the reserved spaces with the nice chairs can sit in them. The drinks are very expensive but the servers are all very polite and drop dead beautiful. They have active life guards at every pool so all the kids are safe at all times! It was a lovely pool space. Checking Out: My boyfriend ended up talking to them about our complaints (the bathroom not working, our view, etc.) and they gave us 2 nights worth of resort fees back which ended up being $83. (we spent for three nights a grand total of $425 + $150 deposit that you do get back if there is no damage to the room) They also extended our checkout time to 1 PM. So that was nice of them. Overall: I was disappointed with some things but was also impressed with others. I wasn't happy with our room and our view especially since we were promised a Strip view after being charged three times accidentally, but I can get over it. Would I stay here again? Maybe.
