| - Passion counts for a lot, and Insert Coins has a lot of it. When the owner can rack up over a million points on fancy Pac Man while a little tipsy, you know he's got a love for gaming. And, although my lack of expertise in gaming prevents me from saying "It's the best," I will say that I enjoy a cold beer and a round of video game butt kicking more than your average bear. It provides your evening with competition and goals, and don't we all need more of that?
The have some themed cocktails, but for me, this is a place for beer. Too quick of a buzz will surely ruin your game! I generally avoid the weekend craze, and go Monday-Thursday when the crowd is more laid back and local. It is definitely a gathering spot for downtowners.
It's also kind of a Jets bar, and given that there are a million screens, it's an unexpectedly good spot to catch the game. If the Jets do well, you might even score some drinks from the generous owner. Bonus!
Sitting at the bar you can grab a controller and play some games on the screens hung behind the bar. What's not to like about free entertainment?
Or you can grab some quarters and battle it out on an arcade game. There is a good selection, but some games are in better shape then others probably thanks to a rowdy weekend crowd.
I don't always love the music; it can be testosterone-flavored when it's not 80s night! But, hey, that's a minor little thing. I have also never had bottle service, but in theory it seems clever. Regardless, for me, it's a bar meant for hanging and having fun, and that's what has always happened when I was there, so I will definitely be back to kick more butts. (I just love fighting games!)
